About Toddler Stays

Made by parents who got tired of guessing which hotel room would work for a toddler.

Why we built this

We're parents of a two-year-old. Before every trip we spent hours on hotel sites trying to answer simple questions: Is there a door we can close at nap time, or do we sit in the dark at 1 p.m.? Is there a fridge for milk? A playground close enough to burn off energy before dinner? Booking sites rarely say.

And then there's the food. Our son is very particular about his pouches: one brand, a few flavors, and nothing else will do. So we also want to know which grocery store near the hotel might carry them. If your little one has their own non-negotiables, you get it.

What we do

For the 100 places US families travel most, we map the hotels from brands known for suites and family rooms, then check what's around each one: playgrounds within a short walk, splash pads, zoos, grocery stores and the nearest pharmacy. Every number comes from public map data, computed the same way for every hotel.

What we don't do

We never promise a guest count, because each hotel sets its own. We never use AI pictures of real hotels or copy photos from booking sites. When we haven't checked something, we say so.

How we keep the lights on

Some links, like those on our Travel Essentials page and the live hotel price maps, may earn us a small commission at no extra cost to you. They're labeled, and they never change what we say about a hotel. If you've used them, thank you: it's what keeps this site free. This site is built with the help of AI tools; the facts come from map data, not from AI.

Soon we'll add the things our own family actually packs, with a line on why each one earned its spot.

Little things we look for

  • A door at nap time
  • A fridge for milk and pouches
  • A playground within a 10-minute walk
  • A splash pad for hot afternoons
  • A grocery store close by
  • A pharmacy for the 9 p.m. fever
